What We Do

Numerous churches, especially within the Black community, often face challenges in garnering the necessary resources and technical expertise to propel their missions forward. In response to this prevalent issue, NFM was conceived. With over 40 years of combined experience and a track record of raising over $60 million, NFM offers tailored solutions to empower churches.

Our innovative techniques and advice advocate for the integration of donor programs, blending annual and major donor initiatives, major and planned giving programs, and more. This strategic fusion ensures a symbiotic relationship, fostering a continuous cycle of support. We emphasize the creation of semi-individualized fundraising activities, communications, events, and outreach, targeting a broad base of donors with lower to mid-level gifts. This approach establishes robust connections between donors, congregants, and the mission, transforming annual contributors into mid-level supporters, then into major donors who, in turn, become engaged ambassadors, ultimately leading to planned gifts for the church.

NFM’s services and courses (we also teach classes at theology schools) will show your church how to develop realistic development goals. Our techniques provide insights into contingency planning, securing the support of key leaders, and setting ambitious yet attainable objectives.

As part of our comprehensive services, we assist in creating development plans and establishing efficient office systems. Moreover, we impart strategies to boost your budget and acquire additional financial resources, fostering the continued growth of your fund development.

Who We Are

Paul Hosch is the Founder and CEO of Nonprofit Fundraising Management, a specialized firm dedicated to providing comprehensive fundraising support for religious institutions committed to making a positive impact in their communities. With a focus on transforming existing programs or developing new ones, Paul collaborates with leadership to enhance their financial resources. NFM has successfully partnered with notable organizations such as Second Baptist Church in Orange County, CA; Interdenominational Theological College in Atlanta, GA; The Emory Fellowship in Washington, DC; St. John’s United Methodist Church in Houston, TX; and Central United Methodist Church in Atlanta, GA.

A graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Business from the University of Southern California, Paul is pursuing a master’s degree in Nonprofit Management from the University of San Francisco, with a thesis centered on Fundraising in the Black Church.

For 14 years, Paul served as the Senior Vice President for Mission Advancement at Verbum Dei Jesuit High School, overseeing a team of five while managing a department dedicated to raising an annual average of $3.5M to $4M. Despite challenges, such as the pandemic in 2020, the team successfully raised $7M in eight months. All said, he has raised over $50M for the high school. Prior to this role, Paul held key positions at USC’s Keck School of Medicine, the Alzheimer’s Association, and the American Heart Association.

Beyond his professional commitments, Paul is the Board Chairman Emeritus at Santa Monica College, contributing to the management of a $20M endowment and annual distribution of over $500K in scholarships. He serves as the Development Chair on the TACSC Board of Directors. Personally, Paul enjoys various interests, including spending time with his wife, Karla, and loved ones, collecting art, cooking vegan foods, reading everything he can get his hands on, engaging in fitness, and pursuing national and international travel. Known as the world’s greatest uncle among family and friends, Paul takes great pride in this cherished title.

Sonia Faye, President at Nonprofit Fundraising Management, spent 10 years in Business Analysis, Information Systems Management, and Project Management at Amgen, Inc. Her primary focus was multimillion dollar, international financial and manufacturing systems projects, working with diverse and cross-functional teams that were often challenged by conflicting priorities and in work environments that required FDA-validated protocols and procedures. Working in biotechnology taught her the importance of listening to and understanding a client’s needs, collecting accurate data, testing, and carefully measuring outcomes to ensure that you are actually meeting those needs to the highest possible standard.

While raising her two sons at home, Sonia acted as a full-time volunteer at their local school, expanding and directing the volunteer-based art program for 10 years. During that time, Sonia managed hundreds of volunteer teachers and brought art programs to over 2000 students, providing critical art education and programming amidst educational financial budget cuts. Sonia then turned her attention towards nonprofit management as Director of Operations and Fund Development for POPS the Club, a 501 (c) 3 organization providing high school club support and an arts-based curriculum for students with incarcerated loved ones. Sonia and Paul Hosch met on the Board of Directors at POPS and connected on their dedication to the mission, work ethic, servant leadership philosophy, and love of music.

Throughout her years at POPS, Sonia directed General Operations, Finance, IT, Marketing/Communications, HR, and Fund Development. She built a brand new program and operational infrastructure from the ground up to support club expansion and streamline program delivery, expanding their reach from 5 to 19 clubs and supporting over 1500 students with life-changing, transformational programming. She provided organizational leadership in strategic planning and growth, created a publishing social enterprise (outofthewoodspress.com), and managed critical data collection/analysis for programs and grants. Sonia directed POPS the Club in the creation and execution of the organizational development plan including grant submissions, stewardship, cultivation, and major donor solicitation. She also directly managed fundraising events that grew the organizational budget by 20% and enabled them to continue their expansion and impact.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Sonia loves hiking, the great outdoors, and any kind of puzzle. She also sings in an a cappella group and her greatest joy is spending time with her two sons. In 2014, she summited Kilimanjaro, which was both a dream and a deep lesson in humility. This adventure of a lifetime brought her a deep understanding that one never gets to the apex of anything in this life alone, and that the world is full of strangers who are willing to care for you like family.
